NVD in Sawubona – SAA In-Flight Magazine, March 2009 – Words: Kayang Gogiano Lourensford Wine Estate – Emerald in the winelands crown

Quote from article:

This enthusiasm is shared by Lourensford’s super-capable, supremely organised and effervescent events manager, Nina van Deventer, who smiles in anticipation of these launches as well as that of a Lourensford estate olive oil. All are scheduled to happen during the course of this year. Nina has her work cut out managing both Lourensford’s and Dr Wiese’s other grand estate, Lanzerac’s many launches, functions and parties. She clearly loves her job and during my cellar tour proudly reveals that “Newlands can fit into the cellar area. It’s the size of a rugby field”
“We’ve had some amazing corporate launches in here with up to 600 people. There have even been acrobats doing tricks while hanging from the ceiling. You won’t believe some of the stuff we’ve done here for clients. We do weddings, host international movie shoots, arrange car launches – the estate is just so popular. We have such a good infrastructure and of course, a great location”.

Another feather in Lourensford’s (and Nina’s) cap, was the extremely successful open air concert, K-Day, hosted in conjunction with KFM radio station and Santam, held on 15 November 2008 on Lourensford’s polo fields, and scheduled to become an annual event. 10000 spectators camped out with picnic blankets to enjoy a lineup that included the likes of Johnny Clegg, Freshlyground, Dr Victor and the Rasta Rebels, the Parlotones, Flat Stanley and Watershed. The event was a resounding success and tickets sold out in a few hours.
